Viva Mairena – Debut

Viva Mairena is the music project from writer Miguel Ganzo. Miguel and I grew together in Madrid, and after we both returned to Madrid he came up to me wanting to record some of the songs he had written through the last few years and taking them to a more polished sounding version.

 

We talked about the vibe of the songs, where he wanted to take them sonically, and quickly finding a common aim for the tracks. We tryed to capture the simplicity of his vocals over the sound of his guitar, inspired by artists like Turner Cody or Leonard Cohen.

 

The result is Debut, a 4 song EP that captures the intimacy of a song writer that paints landscapes with his lyrics and guitar. One of my favourite tracks of the record is “Dejar que pase”, where with the help of guitarist Laura Trillo and some sound design we ttryed to take the listener into a journey.
