MULTIPLEX – MULTIPLEX

My history with Carlos, the guitarist of Multiplex, goes far back to our high school years. When I returned to Madrid, we reconnected, and he asked me if I would be interested in recording his music project Multiplex. They needed a producer to record their first EP, but also someone to play drums for it. I immediately jumped in, and we started preparing the songs, planning the session while sharing influences and sound references for their tracks.

 

The 4 songs of their first EP were recorded in 4 sessions: I first tracked the drums based on their demos and rehearsals, then recorded guitar and bass together, using my performance as a reference. Then we worked on distortion effects and synth sounds, and finally overdubbed the final vocal tracks.

 

While there was no possibility to record everyone together, I tried to keep the band’s energy and capture their performance as a band as much as possible, recording the bass and guitar together, as well as some Vocals and backing vocals. The result is an energetic, powerful EP, or as Carlos summarized it:  “FUZZ is our happy place”
