KAYÚ – KAYÚ

In 2021, I joined a band called KAYÚ. It was a The Police-inspired power trio. We needed to record a demo to start looking for gigs. We wanted something uncomplicated that captured the band’s essence and sounded good, so I decided to take on the challenge. 

 

Using early recordings of The Police as a reference , I recorded the band live, with no overdubs, except for the lead vocals, and using only 8 tracks: 5 for the drums, one guitar, one bass and the main vocal. I used amp simulators for guitar and bass to get the tone we were after, and then mixed everything together, adding delays and reverbs to increase depth.
