FECYT Journal Club
FECYT Journal Club is a podcast series produced by Scienseed for the Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT) as part of its Ciencia de la Comunicación Científica initiative. The format mirrored an academic reading group, where researchers and science communication professionals discussed and critically analysed key studies on how science is communicated, exploring their practical implications for real-world outreach and public engagement. Topics range from narrative strategies and data visualization to inclusivity, public trust, and the fight against misinformation.
As the sound engineer for Journal Club, I was responsible not only for the audio quality of the project but also for managing the live broadcast of each episode, ensuring stable sound, clear voices, and a smooth technical experience for both speakers and audience. Taking care of the live production adds a unique layer of responsibility and excitement, requiring real-time problem-solving and close coordination with the participants.
Beyond the technical work, the project has been a great learning experience, allowing me to engage directly with leading experts in science communication while helping translate complex academic discussions into an accessible and engaging live audio format.
